The Christian County Senior Citizens, Inc. was incorporated by the Commonwealth of Kentucky on November 17, 1970 exclusively for charitable purposes and to establish a senior center to provide a full range of services for the elderly of Christian County with special emphasis placed on serving the low-income elderly.  Our senior center, A.W. Watts Senior Center, is located in Hopkinsville, Kentucky which is centrally located in Christian County.

In 1973, this agency established one of the first transportation, nutrition, and recreation programs in Western Kentucky.  These programs were funded with local funds.

The Christian County Senior Citizens, Inc., is governed by a fourteen member Board of Directors.  The Board of Directors is selected from all geographic areas of the County.

Adult Day Care
The purpose of the Adult Day Alzheimer’s Respite Services Program for Christian County is to serve those persons age 60 and older that are physically disabled, mentally confused, or are emotionally stressed in a social model day care setting.

The Adult Day Services Program is housed and operated at our senior center.

The operational programs are designed to meet the client’s needs, interest, and functional ability and include exercise, adult education, stimulating games, discussions, picnics, short scenic bus trips, television and video programs.

The goal of the program is to provide short-term respite care which would provide an extension on the amount of time a client could remain in a home environment.

Home Care
Our Home Care program provides in-home services to individuals 60 and older with functional disabilities and at-risk for requiring long-term, institutional care.  In-home services include: personal care, home management, home delivered meals, home repair, chore, and respite.

Title III Aging Services
Our Title III aging services are provided to individuals 60 years of age and older.  The services offered include: daily congregate lunch, home-delivered meals, in-home services, disease prevention and health promotion.

State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)
We provide information, enrollment assistance and referral resources to persons eligible for Medicare and affiliated programs. This assistance is provided through group workshops and events as well as one-on-one counseling.

Our philosophy is to serve as many elderly as possible with the funds available.  This agency has always searched for additional funds to provide services to the elderly and will continue to do so.  Any elderly clients should be given enough services based on their conditions to assist them in daily living.
